William Gomis, the Parisian featherweight sensation, is set to make his mark on the global stage once again as he faces Joanderson Brito at UFC Fight Night: Moicano vs Saint Denis this Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Accor Arena in Paris, France.

For Gomis, fighting in his hometown brings a wave of emotion and pride, as MMA was only legalized in France in 2020. Just a few short years ago, the idea of competing in the UFC on home soil seemed like a pipe dream, but now, Gomis is one of the rising stars of French MMA.

In his third consecutive UFC fight in Paris, Gomis will look to continue his winning streak, which stands at an impressive 11 straight victories. His journey, filled with adversity, is a testament to his resilience and determination. Speaking ahead of his upcoming bout with Brito, Gomis reflected on the significance of fighting in his hometown: “For French people, it’s amazing. We were waiting years to have MMA in France, and now we have UFC in Paris, so it’s exciting to be there again.”

Gomis’ path to UFC success wasn’t an easy one. After making his debut on the same night Ciryl Gane headlined the first UFC event in Paris in 2022, Gomis earned a majority decision victory over Jarno Errens. He followed up that performance in 2023 with a show-stopping third-round stoppage of Yanis Ghemmouri. Now, with UFC Paris 2024 on the horizon, Gomis is ready to steal the show again.

After a tough year dealing with injury and a canceled fight in Brazil earlier this year, Gomis is hungrier than ever. He views this weekend’s fight against the dangerous Brito as a pivotal moment in his career. Brito has earned five consecutive stoppage wins, but Gomis is confident: “I know he’s strong, punches hard, but he’s not smart. It’s gonna be very good for me because I am strong and I am smart.”

Gomis believes this fight is his time to shine, a coming-out party for the rest of the world to see what Paris has known all along—that he’s a force to be reckoned with in the featherweight division. With the hometown crowd behind him, Gomis is aiming to secure his third straight win on French soil, which he says would feel “like if I have a baby!”

Don’t miss William Gomis’ electrifying performance at UFC Fight Night: Moicano vs Saint Denis. The prelims begin at 12pm ET/9am PT, with the main card airing live on ESPN+ at 3pm ET/12pm PT. Get ready for an unforgettable night of fights!
