ONE Championship has set its date for Stamp Fairtex’s first defense of the ONE Atomweight MMA World Championship. On Friday, June 7, the Thai superstar puts the gold on the line against Denice Zamboanga at ONE 167 on Prime Video inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
The bout was initially scheduled for ONE 166: Qatar, but the match was postponed so that the two talented martial artists could participate in an original docuseries production.
Stamp captured the title against Ham Seo Hee at ONE Fight Night 14 last September. Although the South Korean held her own, a late second-round submission attempt was followed by a third-round TKO to complete the Fairtex athlete’s mission to become a three-sport World Champion.
Zamboanga will not come to the Circle to be Stamp’s first victim. The Filipina wants to achieve her dream of becoming a champion and will try to win her third match in a row to accomplish the feat.
Zamboanga has won on the judge’s scorecards against Lin Heqin and Julie Mezabarba in back-to-back wins to earn the title shot.
Although the women headline the night, ONE also announced the incredible co-main event for the card.
Last October, Tawanchai PK Saenchai and “Smokin” Jo Nattawut threw down in a featherweight kickboxing battle. Tawanchai edged out his fellow Thai athlete for a unanimous decision win, but fans were in a fervor about Nattawut’s showing.
Now, the two will meet again, but this time, they will don four-ounce gloves, and Tawanchai will put his ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title on the line.
The stakes for the rematch could not get any higher, and it will be a prime opportunity for Nattawut to have a career-defining moment in U.S. primetime against arguably the best striker in the world today.
ONE 167 is already off to a hot start, and only two matches have been announced. As more bouts are revealed, June 7 will be a day to circle on the calendar.
ONE 167: Stamp vs. Zamboanga on Prime Video airs live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Friday, June 7.
