This weekend, some of the brightest stars in combat sports descend into Saudi Arabia for PFL vs. Bellator Champions, which will feature world champions versus world champions and some of the biggest names in mixed martial arts (MMA) taking to the PFL SmartCage.
The inaugural offering for the Professional Fighters League’s (PFL) Pay Per View Super Fight Division, Saturday’s card is also quite historic as it will be the first PFL event to take place live in the Middle East. As such, the PFL decided to pull out all the stops and make it perhaps the biggest MMA event of the year, pitting PFL champions against Bellator champions in the headlining bouts while getting the biggest names from both brands to go head to head.
In the main event, 2023 PFL Heavyweight Champion Renan “Problema” Ferreira, fresh off his first-ever PFL championship win, will take on the reigning Bellator Heavyweight Champion Ryan “Darth” Bader.
In the co-main event, 2023 PFL Light Heavyweight Champion Impa “Tshilobo” Kasanganay will be dropping back down to 185-pounds to take on Bellator Middleweight Champion Johnny Eblen.
To add to the spectacle and the prestige, the fighters in the champion-versus-champion matches will also be fighting for something more than just bragging rights.
To commemorate and immortalise their triumph in the biggest MMA event of the year, the winners of the champion-versus-champion bouts will also bring home two pieces of special hardware: a PFL vs. Bellator Champions Superfight Belt and a PFL vs. Bellator Champions ring.
Reminiscent of a Super Bowl ring or any championship ring in sports, the PFL vs. Bellator Champions ring is studded with diamonds, and features the event branding as well as the words “Champion of Champions” in the front. The sides feature “2024 Super Fights PPV”.
The belt, on the other hand, resembles the PFL’s current Regular Season championship belts, with the Professional Fighters League and PFL vs. Bellator Champions event branding in the front. The side plates feature branding of the PFL and Bellator, as well as the “Champion of Champions” messaging and a mention of the event’s massive setting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
An interesting aspect to these two pieces of prestigious hardware is that the ring can be fitted into a slot on the belt’s main front plate, which is a very creative design direction.
Find out who gets to take these home on Saturday, February 24th live on ESPN+ PPV and DAZN!
