Dagestani Sensation Saygid Izagakhmaev Signs with ONE Championship

Mixed martial arts legend Khabib Nurmagomedov took to the world of social media on Tuesday to announce a new addition to the ONE Championship roster. 27-year-old Saygid Izagakhmaev will jump onto the global stage in December, per Nurmagomedov.

Khabib wrote, "I want to share news with you guys, my brother Saygid Izagakhmaev has signed a contract with ONE Championship, and his next fight will be on [sic] December."

"Thank you so much Chatri Sityodtong it would be impossible without you, see you my friend, it was nice to meet you 🤝."

The CEO and Founder of ONE replied, "Thank you for everything, Khabib. See you soon!"

Izagakhmaev will enter ONE with an impressive 19 victories under his belt, having finished 14 of his opponents before the final bell. The Eagles MMA representative has taken the strong advice of his coach to bring him to this latest challenge of his career.

In Izagakhmaev's last outing, Nurmagomedov was in his corner, giving him the right coaching to get the second-round rear-naked choke.

There is no confirmation as of yet as to who will be the Russian's first opponent.

The Dagestani grappler has been competing in the welterweight division. As he steps onto the global stage to prove himself, Izagakhmaev will attempt to make waves in his debut to announce himself as an immediate contender later this year.

With kind words shared between Nurmagoemdov and Sityodtong, a strong relationship may set the stage for more talented Dagestani athletes to get their shot in Asia's largest sports media property. But first, Izagakhmaev will have his shot to continue his streak with one of the all-time greats in his corner.

Eating before your martial arts training is just as important as wearing your Gi. Unfortunately, there is a myth that eating before your workout will hamper your training. As I said, it is a myth. Training on an empty stomach is like driving your car further than the gas you have in the tank. Exactly, you can't.

Bruce Lee

A campaign has begun on the petition website to change the name of Lee County, Fla. to "Bruce Lee County." The area was originally named after the civil war general, Robert E. Lee. But now a movement has been started by a group of local artists known as Artsemble Underground which, according to an NBC News report, is owned by Brian Weaver who said living in a county named after a confederate general does not make him proud.
