This weekend at UFC 304, fans will witness an exciting welterweight clash between Sam Patterson and Kiefer Crosbie. The event, headlined by the much-anticipated rematch between Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad, promises to deliver high-stakes action from start to finish.

Earlier this year in Toronto, UFC enthusiasts were introduced to Sam Patterson, a 28-year-old fighter representing Team Crossface. Standing tall at six-foot-three with a 78-inch reach, Patterson made a remarkable impact in his welterweight debut against Yohan Lainesse.

Demonstrating his striking and grappling prowess, Patterson swiftly dragged Lainesse to the canvas and secured a rear-naked choke, ending the fight just two minutes and three seconds into the first round. This performance highlighted his potential in the 170-pound division.

Patterson's transition to welterweight followed a successful stint at lightweight, where he earned a win on Season 6 of Dana White’s Contender Series. However, after a debut loss at UFC 286 in London, he recognized the need for a change. Eschewing the weight cut has allowed Patterson to focus more on developing his skills, making him an even more formidable contender.

His opponent, Kiefer Crosbie, hails from Ireland and made his UFC debut on short notice last fall in Sydney. Despite falling to City Kickboxing’s Kevin Jousset, Crosbie remains a resilient and determined fighter. This matchup in Manchester is an opportunity for both fighters to prove themselves in the highly competitive welterweight division.

The 170-pound category is known for its depth and talent, making Patterson's and Crosbie's journey even more challenging. However, a second consecutive impressive performance from Patterson could significantly elevate his status and mark him as a prospect to watch closely.
