The August 1970 Karate Illustrated featured one of Southern California's top competitors Carlos Bunda, featured on the cover with his brother Ron Bunda. Bunda made a name for himself as one of the toughest karateka of the blood and guts era facing noteable opponents as Chuck Norris, Dan Inosanto, Al Gene Caraulia.
