Former BRAVE CF Bantamweight Champion Jose “Shorty” Torres has officially announced a major move back to Flyweight after a failed attempt to reclaim his Bantamweight title against longtime rival Nkosi Ndebele. Torres took to Instagram to confirm the switch, boldly stating, “I’ve won and brought to my city three different titles as a professional, and now I think it’s time to go after another one. BRAVE CF Flyweight title, here I come! Let fight camp begin.”
Torres has a history in the Flyweight division, where he made a memorable debut by defeating Amir Albazi and later battling to a draw with Sean Santella. His Flyweight journey also saw him notch a win over Blaine O’Driscoll before moving up to 135 pounds, where he eventually claimed the BRAVE CF Bantamweight Championship by dethroning Nkosi Ndebele. Their fierce rivalry ignited one of BRAVE CF’s most thrilling trilogies, spanning three different continents: South America, Asia, and Africa. Despite Torres’s initial victory, Ndebele triumphed in their subsequent two encounters, most recently prevailing in a closely contested decision.
With his sights now set on the Flyweight division once again, Torres is preparing to face off against a new wave of formidable competitors. The division is packed with talent, including rising MMA star Muhammad Mokaev, legendary African fighter Luthando Biko, and sambo champions Velimurad Alkhasov and Bidizina Gavashelishvili. Adding to the excitement, South American Flyweight standout Marciano Ferreira also awaits in the division.
Torres’s Flyweight return marks a thrilling new chapter as he aims to add yet another title to his decorated resume. Fight fans can expect more news soon as Torres hinted at an impending announcement regarding his next bout. The BRAVE CF Flyweight division just got a whole lot more interesting.
