Alesha Zappitella submitted Ashley Cummins in the fourth round Friday night to claim the vacant Invicta atomweight MMA championship at Invicta 42 in Kansas City, Kansas.
After a tough first two rounds that saw her rocked in the stand-up, Zappitella began to turn things around in the third taking Cummins down and dropping some strong elbows on her. She then finished Cummins on the ground in the fourth round with a Von Flue choke.
