Director: George Miller
Release Date: May 24, 2024
"45 years after the collapse, a young Furiosa is taken from her family. She will devote the rest of her life to finding her way home. This is her odyssey."
In contrast to its title, Mad Max: Fury Road placed a significant emphasis on its female protagonist, Furiosa, rather than Max Rockatansky.
It emerged as one of the most impressive action films in recent memory, marking a notable comeback for its 78-year-old director, George Miller. However, Miller's exploration of the post-apocalyptic Australian outback is far from over.
Inspired by Furiosa, he is set to unveil Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. This forthcoming film delves into Furiosa's backstory, preceding her encounters with Max and Immortan Joe, and before the loss of her arm. Anya Taylor-Joy assumes the role of the young Furiosa, with Chris Hemsworth portraying the villainous Dementus.
“As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”
While some may question the necessity of a backstory for Furiosa, similar doubts arose before Fury Road's release. As we prepare to embark on Furiosa's journey this spring, reminiscent of the War Boys' iconic chant, we anticipate another thrilling ride down the fury road, perhaps leading us to Valhalla.
