The biggest event on the BJJ calendar this side of the world championships, the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation Pan-American Championship, took place this weekend in Kissimmee, Fla., though arguably with a slight drop off in competition due to the pandemic. Nonetheless, some divisions still managed to shine through, the highlight perhaps coming in the men's absolute class where 100 kg category winner Fellipe Andrew met 94 kg champion Gustavo Batista in the finals.
Though Batista dominated most of his earlier opponents, Andrew had the answer for him taking an 18-8 points victory. The women's absolute class saw Yara Soares take the title by a 2-0 score over Ana Carolina Vieira.
