Fights to Watch Out For at the PFL Europe Championship

Before 2023 comes to a close, the Professional Fighters League (PFL) has one more must-see offering in store for fight fans, with the 2023 PFL Europe Championship, which takes place this coming Friday, December 8th at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland.

The inaugural championship event for the PFL’s widely-successful Europe-based franchise, Friday’s card will feature four championship bouts which will see the crowning of PFL Europe’s first batch of champions.

Apart from the title bouts, the card will also see qualifier bouts for next year’s PFL Europe and PFL Global seasons.

All Four PFL Europe Championship Bouts

The PFL Europe Championship will definitely be one for the history books, as the card will feature four championship bouts that will crown the league’s inaugural European champions. Apart from some gold hardware, the champions will also receive a $100,000 purse, and more importantly, an opportunity to join the PFL’s million-dollar global tournament next season.

Here’s a quick glance at all four PFL Europe Championship bouts:

  • Jakub Kaszuba vs. John Mitchell - PFL Europe Lightweight Championship

  • Khurshed Kakhorov vs. Frans Mlambo - PFL Europe Bantamweight Championship

  • Dakota Ditcheva vs. Valentina Scatizzi - PFL Europe Women’s Flyweight Championship

  • Jakob Nedoh vs. Simeon Powell - PFL Europe Light Heavyweight Championship

Some notable names in these bouts include the likes of John Mitchell, Frans Mlambo, Dakota Ditcheva, and Simeon Powell.

Nathan Kelly - Main Event 2023 PFL Europe Championship

Ireland’s Own Nathan Kelly in the Main Event

Headlining the inaugural PFL Europe Championship card is a featherweight contest between Ireland’s own Nathan Kelly taking on French knockout artist Dimitry Solmeis. Kelly, a teammate of Conor McGregor, has been making waves inside the SmartCage since making his PFL debut last year. Kelly has won all three of his PFL bouts, two of which came by submission, and he’s currently riding an eight-fight winning streak. A big win this Friday could make him a shoo-in for next year’s million-dollar featherweight tournament.

Solmeis, meanwhile, is set to make his PFL debut. He comes in with a 6-3 professional record, with four wins coming by way of knockout.

Tom Breese’ PFL Debut

Fight fans in the United Kingdom are well aware of English light heavyweight Tom Breese’s resume. The 32-year old owns a solid 17-4 professional record, with 12 of those victories coming by way of submission. Breese is a UFC veteran, winning 5 of his 8 Octagon appearances, and one of his losses was a close split decision defeat to reigning UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland. Breese makes his PFL debut in a Global League qualifier bout against Brazil’s Cleiton Silva, who’s also making his SmartCage debut.
