Dr. Mark Cheng is a traditional Chinese-medicine physician, martial arts researcher and licensed acupuncturist based in Los Angeles. He is the co-author (with Taejoon Lee) of Hwa Rang Do: Defend, Take Down, Submit, released by Black Belt in 2005.

As a contributing editor to Black Belt, Cheng wrote Legends of Kung Fu, a monthly column that examined a wide range of traditional martial arts. He currently writes feature articles for the magazine.

Cheng is a student under master David C. K. Lin and teaches shuai chiao. He also practices and teaches southern il lum kung fu and yang style tai chi. Cheng teaches Chinese tui na manual therapeutics and maintains his own successful private clinical practice in Santa Monica, California.
