Celtic Judo Team Championships Portmarnock

Portmarnock to host the 2008 Celtic Judo Team Championships This unique sporting event is a dynamic blend of athletic commitment and fight night atmosphere, with athletes from across Ireland competing to bring the title of 2008 Celtic Cup Team Champions back to their home club. Judo clubs around Ireland are currently pitting fighters against each other to decide which 5 club members will be chosen to represent their club at the event. The teams comprise of four men and one woman, and the 5 athletes will depend on each other to get them through to the finals. The Celtic Cup is a unique event in that it caters for judoka (those who do Judo) and everyone else too! With the darkened room lit only by the spotlights on the mat, the bar serving all day and dancers for the pre finals warm up entertainment, it won’t matter if the spectators know anything about Judo or not – the atmosphere is set to be truly electrifying. The event will be held in the Portmarnock Sports and Leisure Centre in the Martello Room Bar, on Saturday the 14th of June from 10am. Admission will be €5 for adults, €2 for children and all are welcome.
